Apple Valley - The first major growth came to Apple Valley in 1945 when oil men Newton Bass and Bud
Westland looking for oil. Instead they discovered an underground water reservoir. They then bought the area from the railroad,
built the Historic Apple Valley Inn and started a Apple Valley Land company selling land parcels. To help promote the area, they hired
an advertising company to bring movie stars to the area. During the 1950s Apple Valley Land was known as the playground of the movie stars.
Hollywood's best known cowboy Roy Rogers and Dale Evans moved to Apple Valley in the 1960s and have since been buried there.
